YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Galilee has a special role on the restoration of Israel and the whole world.

Galilee of the Nations”, the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, that those who walked in darkness would see a great light (Isaiah 9:1-2).

Yeshua grew up and lived most of his life in the Galilee. The first disciples were Galileans and most of his miracles were performed there.

After his resurrection, the women at the tomb were instructed to tell his disciples to go to the Galilee, and there they would see him (Mathew 28:7,10).

The city of Tiberias is located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret), that lies on the ancient “Via Maris” that linked Egypt with the northern empires. Its strategic location and excellent fishing made the lake's vicinity a popular place throughout the centuries.

There are many young people there, a nation that fails to invest in the future of its youth is a doomed nation.

The youth will be the future leaders of Israel and as such needs a good and strong foundation  to be good leaders and citizens someday.

Psalms 78:4-7 - “We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:That the generation to come might know them, even the children who should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.”

David’s Children in partnership with the Municipality (the absorption and immigration office of the city) , is developing a youth leadership program called "RISING LEADERSHIP TO SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT". The main goal of the leadership program is to develop future leaders to make an impact on their surroundings.

The program aims to reach the young children of new immigrants who need to adapt to Israel.

Gabriel  Talker - founder of David's Children organization and the coordinators from the Municipality ( Debbora Galili and Yoel Haddad) , believe that developing new young leaders is an important mission with big implications on the future of the local community.

Most of the new young immigrants are considered 'at-risk youth'.

They  are vulnerable  to drug usage, alcoholism, and other behaviors,  due lack of institutional support, difficulties with communication in a foreign country and loneliness.

For those reasons, the municipality of Tiberias came out with this life-changing program, to mainly help the new immigrants to properly integrate into the Israeli society, although other youngsters are also welcomed in the leadership program.

These are the values on which the program lies on: entrepreneurship, giving, volunteering, self-sacrificing and social engagement with the elderly and needy for the improvement of the community.

The two mentors that will lead the program, Gabriel and Debbora, are both matured and experienced leaders that will serve as great examples for the young adults at the beginning of their leadership journey.

GABRIEL & SHLOMIT TALKER

We from SHALOM ISRAEL ASIA PACIFIC and L.I.F.T support DAVID'S CHILDREN initiative in Tiberias to develop future youth leaders.

We are sure that they will be able to realize a brighter future ahead.
